History Matters is proud to announce that Professor Hakim Adi, the first person of African heritage to become a Professor of History in the U.K., has been shortlisted for the Wolfson History prize, the country’s most prestigious History award, for his work African and Caribbean People in Britain - A History, published by Penguin.
This news follows the appalling and short sighted actions of Chichester University, widely seen as an act of educational vandalism, forcibly making Professor Adi redundant and closing down his pioneering Masters by Research programme.
Clearly Chichester University is completely out of touch with the regard, gravitas and respect that the rest of Britain has for Professor Adi and his work.
